The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention (RLC) along with the National Basketball Association Care Program once again came together to promote cancer screening among men of color and to celebrate the men who were tested for prostate and colon cancer at RLC this year. The players that were at the event this year were; Scott Burrell, Albert King, Felipe Lopez, Anthony Mason, Johan Petro and John Wallace.

The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention Hosts 1st Annual Gala
On October 21, 2009 the Ralph Lauren Center hosted its first annual jazz for Cancer Care gala fundraiser at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, in New York City. The event was co-chaired by Anna Carbonell, vice-president of NBC4 and Telemundo; Danny Glover, award winning actor and producer; and Hill Harper, award winning actor, best selling author and motivational speaker. Also spike Lee, director, producer and president, 40 acres and A Mule Filmworks; Gorge Martin, retired NY Giants Super Bowl XXI co-captain and founder of “A Journey for 9/11”; and Dr. Billy Taylor, noted jazz pianist, composer, educator and founder of Jazzmobile.
David Ushery Anchor for News 4 New York, served as the evening’s master of ceremonies. The Ali Jackson Band provided Jazz music to the guests.
Funds raised during the event, will be utilized to provide charity care to the underserved and uninsured in Harlem, which has the one of the highest cancer mortality rates in New York City. Dr. Brian Harper and MC David Ushery

The 7th Annual 100 Women in Hedge Funds New York Gala was held Wednesday, November 19th, 2009 at Cipriani 42nd Street.
Each year at the gala, 100 Women in Hedge Funds presents two outstanding individuals with the Effecting Change and Industry Leadership Awards.
The Harold P. Freeman Patient Navigation Institute at the Ralph Lauren Center will be the beneficiary of this year’s gala and other fundraisers to be held in the US during 2008. 100 Women in Hedge Funds’ support will help the Ralph Lauren Center augment its existing Screening and Patient Navigation Programs in the areas of breast, cervical and colon cancer, and leverage its expertise to establish two Satellite Patient Navigation Programs in medically underserved communities in Chicago, IL and in San Francisco/Oakland, CA.
Second Annual Harlem Men’s Cancer Screening Campaign with the NBA
The Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention in Harlem celebrated its fifth anniversary on May 13, 2008 and was the proud host of the official kick off event of LiveStrong Day 2008, the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s nationwide initiative to raise cancer awareness. To commemorate the day’s events, Ralph Lauren, Lance Armstrong, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Dr. Harold Varmus, President and Chief Executive Office of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and CEO of the Ralph Lauren Center, as well as center Founder Dr. Harold Freeman were on hand to offer remarks and answer questions.
In addition, Mr. Armstrong sat down with David Lauren to give an exclusive interview; on his battle with cancer, life after and his involvement with the Ralph Lauren Center.
Dee Dee’s 40th!, a Live and Silent Auction in partner with Dee Dee Ricks, activist and philanthropist who has generously supported the Center, was held Friday, April 18, 2008 at the CORE: club.
The evening included a performance by Big Head Todd & the Monsters, highlights from Dee Dee’s Future Documentary, an exclusive auction by Jamie Niven, Chairman of Sotheby’s North and South America, and a silent auction throughout the night.
The Ralph Lauren Center was proud to host the Women’s Cancer Care Luncheon on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 recognizing the many generous Women’s Cancer Care Supporters, Members of the Board of Trustees and Members of the Friends Committee. The luncheon Co-Chairs were Joyce Haupt and Nola Lancaster Whiteman and Harold P. Freeman MD, President and Founder of the Ralph Lauren Center was the Guest Speaker.
